Palfinger Marine has won a contract to supply davit cranes for DONG Energy’s 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German part of the North Sea.
Palfinger Marine will supply a total of 56 davit cranes which will be installed on the platform of each wind turbine at the site.
The offshore wind farm will comprise 56 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines installed some 54km off the coast of Lower Saxony, next to Borkum Riffgrund 1.
The commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2019.
DONG Energy reached final investment decision for Borkum Riffgrund 2 in June , and awarded Jan De Nul with a contract to install the 36 monopiles with accompanying transition pieces the next month. Deme’s GeoSea will install the remaining 20 foundations at the site.
The 56 wind turbines will be installed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
