EDF Energy Makes WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Part of Its Energy Technical Support Alliance

Professional services consultancy WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed by EDF Energy to its technical support alliance to support its fleet of wind farms in the UK, including the 62MW Teeside offshore wind farm.

Professional services consultancy WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has been appointed by EDF Energy to its technical support alliance to support its fleet of wind farms in the UK, including the 62MW Teeside offshore wind farm.

A dedicated team will provide engineering consultancy services on the company’s renewables sites. WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is one of five suppliers supporting EDF Energy under a Technical Service Agreement.

Jason Ainscough, quality and inspection services director at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff said: “Our teams will be working closely with EDF Energy central technical organisation and their site teams to support long term strategic projects and respond to emerging technical issues affecting the commercial operation of their assets.”

The Teesside offshore wind farm is EDF Group’s first and only operating offshore wind farm in the UK.

Located off the North East coast at Redcar, the 27-turbine scheme has been in operation since July 2013.

EDF Energy is currently developing the 41.5MW Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project near the port of Blyth in Northumberland.

The project will comprise five MHI Vestas 8.3MW wind turbines installed some 6 kilometres off the coast and the 66Kv cable technology to be installed by VMBS.

Concrete gravity base foundations will be built by Royal BAM Group and a new ‘float and sink’ installation method will be used on the project.

The development has consent for up to 15 turbines when fully constructed, with a maximum total generating capacity of 99.9MW.
