After Danish Government launched its new export strategy on 22 March, the Danish Energy Agency’s (DEA) cooperation with the three largest export markets for energy technology – the US, UK and Germany – has been reinforced, DEA said.
As part of the export strategy, experts from DEA will share experiences on Danish energy regulation and solutions within renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors with their foreign colleagues. Dialogue and knowledge sharing with the authorities from the three countries will increase visibility of the Danish approach and technology solutions, and create commercial contacts and opportunities for Danish companies.
While with Germany and the UK the cooperation will mainly revolve around district heating and energy efficiency, DEA will back the US with Danish knowledge, experience and solutions that can play an important role in the North American offshore wind market. This will also open market opportunities for Danish companies, as there is a growing focus on offshore wind in the US and thus the possibility for increased exports of Danish wind technology solutions.
The US green transition, driven mainly by the federal states, could create a great market potential in conjunction with Danish embassy’s current initiatives in offshore wind and district heating.
To remind, in May 2016 Danish Ambassador Lars Gert Lose and the Director of the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) at the time, Abigail Ross Hopper, signed an MOU to recognize their countries’ common interests in developing offshore wind as a clean and sustainable energy source.
