The last turbine at Belgian Nobelwind offshore wind farm was installed at 8:50am on 3 April, according to MHI Vestas Offshore Wind’s social media pages.

“All 50 turbines were installed safely and spirits remained high despite some extremely bad weather the last few months. Clean energy will soon be flowing from the park into Belgium – enough to power up to 88,000 Belgian households,” MHI Vestas stated via LinkedIn .

Jan De Nul installed the last foundation at the Nobelwind wind farm – also known as Belwind 2 or Bligh Bank II – on 22 September 2016, and started the turbine installation at the end of October 2016.

The first turbine started producing power in early January and by mid-March 42 out of the total 50 MHI Vestas V112-3.3MW were installed.

The 165MW offshore wind farm is situated some 45 kilometres off the coast of Ostend and scheduled to be fully commissioned this year.

Nobelwind is owned by Parkwind, Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and the Dutch investment fund Meewind.
