Granada Material Handling (GMH) recently delivered its 750th wind farm davit crane as part of its contract to supply 84 cranes to the Beatrice offshore wind farm project.

Mark Sidwell , director of Granada Material Handling, said: “We are extremely pleased to have reached this milestone in our delivery programme; this is testament to our tried, tested and proven product and also our strong UK supply chain. With the recently announced contract wins for Granada at East Anglia 1 and Hornsea Offshore wind farms we expect a busy year ahead.’’

The company was awarded the supply of the cranes by all three companies in charge of fabricating foundations for the project.

In September 2016, GMH was contracted by both Bladt and Smulders to deliver the davit cranes for their share of Beatrice foundations, while BiFab awarded GMH with the same job the following month.

For each of the total of 84 foundations, GMH supplied one Python crane. Each crane unit measures approximately 4 meters in height, 7.5 meters in radius, and weighs 2,000kg.

Offshore construction at the Beatrice site started at the beginning of April, with Seaway Heavy Lifting installing piles on which the jacket foundations will be mounted soon.
