DONG Energy has awarded Con4Mare with a contract to provide marine warranty survey services for the 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 is located within the German Exclusive Economic Zone, approximately 17 kilometres east of the border between Germany and the Netherlands, and some 34km north of the island of Borkum.
The wind farm will comprise 56 MHI Vestas V164-8.0 MW wind turbines installed on 20 suction bucket jackets and 36 monopile foundations .
Con4Mare’s scope of work will include the load-out of the monopile foundations as well as the wind turbine generators , their transport and subsequent installation.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 is DONG’s fourth offshore wind farm in German waters. The company decided to build the wind farm in June 2016.
The wind farm is expected to be fully commissioned in the first half of 2019
DONG Energy is the sole owner of Borkum Riffgrund 2, but intends to divest up to 50% of the project at a later stage.
