Construction of the onshore substation for the Beatrice offshore wind farm at Blackhillock, near Keith, is progressing well, according to SSE, which published a video on the latest works being done at the site.
To connect the offshore wind farm with the grid on land, power will be carried by offshore and onshore cables to Blackhillock in Scotland.
The onshore transmission works associated with the wind farm comprise an underground cable from a landfall point to the west of Portgordon and the new substation which the cable will connect to, located adjacent to the existing substation at Blackhillock.
Works on both locations started last year.
The offshore construction began recently with the first set of piles for the jacket foundations installed in early April.
