Denmark’s Bladt Industries has completed the first lifting operation of the external platform onto the upper jacket 3D structure for the first out of 30 jacket foundations for the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) project.
Bladt will provide 30 four-legged jacket foundations for the 588MW wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth, Scotland.
The jacket foundations will have a height of up to approximately 70 metres with weights of up to approximately 900 tons – making them significantly larger than previous jackets structures fabricated at Lindoe, Bladt said.
Seaway Heavy Lifting installed the first piles for the 84 jacket foundations at the site in March 2017.
The remaining 54 jacket foundations for the project are being produced by Smulders , and BiFab .
The GBP 2.6 billion Beatrice will comprise 84 Siemens 7MW turbines scheduled for commissioning in 2019.
The wind farm is located on the North Western point of the Smith Bank, approximately 13 kilometres off the Caithness coastline.
BOWL is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Ltd. (25%).
