ESVAGT has appointed Claus T. Sørensen as its Managing Director for the UK, as the company is aiming to strengthen and expand its position in the UK offshore oil and gas and offshore wind markets.

Sørensen will head the company’s UK operations from ESVAGT’s Aberdeen office.

“Over the last few years, ESVAGT has moved from being a leading Scandinavian operator to being a large operator in the entire North Sea. Such ambition requires a strong presence close to UK customers. It is the largest market in the North Sea, which is why we have employed a strong and experienced leader who, together with our chartering department in Esbjerg, can spearhead our efforts,” said Søren Karas , Chief Commercial Officer for ESVAGT.

ESVAGT said its activities in both the offshore oil and gas and offshore wind energy markets in the British sector are already increasing and that this needs supporting and developing further:

“The British market is very important to us and we have clear ambitions for growth. We believe that we have something to offer. We have strong solutions for safety and support, over 35 years of experience that very few can match, and we are market leader in several areas. That offers us and our customers opportunities in the British market that we are now dedicated to fulfilling,” said Søren Karas .

Within the offshore wind industry, ESVAGT has supplied several service operation vessels (SOVs) that are, or will be, deployed on offshore wind farms across Europe.

Siemens has chartered Esvagt Froude for a five-year contract to service the field and transport personnel during the constructing and operation of the offshore wind farm Baltic 2 in the Baltic Sea, and the Esvagt Faraday for similar jobs for the Butendiek project in the northern part of the German sector of the North Sea. Both vessels started operations in 2015 . Esvagt Njord started its contract for the Dudgeon offshore wind farm in the UK in September 2016 .

In December 2015 , MHI Vestas signed a 10-year contract with Esvagt for an SOV that will be used to service Nobelwind and Belwind offshore wind farms in Belgium. The new Havyard 831 SOV is scheduled to be delivered and commence service in the second half of 2017.
