Cargotec’s MacGregor has delivered substructure connection mooring systems for Statoil’s 30MW Hywind pilot park in Scotland, the world’s first floating offshore wind farm.
MacGregor delivered a total of five sets of Pusnes substructure mooring connection systems including instrumentation for load monitoring.
The ballast-stabilised turbine structures are equipped with a three-point mooring system employing site-specific anchors.
The systems will be installed when the hulls are complete, MacGregor said.
The wind farm, owned by Statoil (75%) and Masdar (25%), is expected to be commissioned in late 2017.
“The project hinges on applying proven technology in new applications,” said Torbjörn Rokstad , Director, Mooring Systems, MacGregor.
“MacGregor was chosen for the task because of its long history of designing and delivering very reliable mooring solutions for offshore floating production units operating in harsh North Sea conditions.”
