Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has shared a photo of the jack-up Brave Tern installing the 35th Adwen 5MW wind turbine on Iberdrola’s Wikinger offshore wind farm to mark a half way milestone on the project.

Located approximately 75km from the mainland close to the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, the 70-turbine Wikinger is in the northern part of an area known as Westlich Adlergrund that the German authorities have designated as a Priority Offshore Development Area.

The EUR 1.4 billion wind farm will be operated from the recently opened O&M base in Mukran for at least 25 years.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2017.

This half way milestone brings the total installed MW for Fred. Olsen Windcarrier in German waters to 1,250 MW, the company said.
