C-Job Naval Architects has unveiled an initial design of an offshore wind Operations & Maintenance (O&M) vessel capable of servicing the needs of the next generation, bigger wind farms, built further offshore.

The company’s recent graduation student, Jidde Looijenga, finished his studies at the NHL Hogeschool with a project called ‘O&M solutions for Round 3 Far Offshore Wind Farms’ .

The result is a design of a vessel that is able to operate more efficiently at future wind farms where new solutions are needed, the company said.

This O&M vessel can accommodate 64 technicians, a 50% increase compared to the average currently built O&M vessel or Service Operation Vessel (SOV).

The increase is mostly due to the multiple and easier access possibilities, next to the standard motion compensated gangway, C-Job said.
