Vroon’s offshore support vessel VOS Start has become the first vessel to feature a new motion compensated gangway launched recently by Barge Master and Bosch Rexroth.

The main driver for this choice was a stepless approach the new gangway offers, Vroon said.

Client personnel can enter a lift at hanger deck and main deck levels. The lift will then bring them to gangway level connecting to the offshore wind turbine and enabling safe walking across without climbing ladders or stairs. Tools and spares can be brought with them in a trolley, too.

The choice was supported by the fact that Barge Master has successfully developed motion-compensated platforms and cranes before, according to Vroon.

”With Bosch Rexroth, supplier and partner to Bargemaster, supplying all hydraulics and systems, we feel comfortable that this next generation gangway was the obvious choice for VOS Start,” Vroon said.
