Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has awarded the Manchester company Granada Material Handling Ltd with a davit crane contract for the 28MW Nissum Bredning offshore wind farm off Denmark.
Granada will design, manufacture, deliver and commission four davit crane units for the Nissum Bredning offshore wind farm.
Each of the Granada Python crane units has been specifically designed for the Nissum Bredning and the marine environment in which the wind farm will operate, the company said. One Python crane unit will be fitted to each of the four platforms.

Each Python crane unit measures approximately 3 meters in height, 3 meters in radius, and weighs 1,500kg. The maximum lifting capacity of 1,000kg is needed to hoist the heavier serviceable components from the supply vessel to the laydown area on the platforms of the transition piece platform.
On behalf of I/S Nissum Bredning Vind, Siemens Gamesa is constructing four Siemens 7MW wind turbines and related equipment in Nissum Bredning.
The direct drive wind turbines will be installed on jacket foundations. Siemens Gamesa will also install a new 66kV voltage solution including a new transformer, cable and switchgear systems, along with further innovations regarding tower and controller settings.
