Peter Morton of Wight Shipyard Co (WSC) has bought a stake in Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC) and has taken his place on the board, AMC informed today, 11 September.

Peter Morton said: “AMC has such a strong reputation in the industry. By combining forces, we feel that we are better placed to monopolise aluminium boatbuilding in Europe.”

WSC is a high-speed craft and aluminium builder, specialising in High Speed Ferries, while its sister company Southampton Marine Services (SMS) provides yacht construction and restoration services. Following the stake acquisition, AMC – a builder of aluminium working vessels specialising in Wind Farm Support Craft and Crew Transfer Vessels – will remain separate and continue to trade under the same name but will benefit from Wight Shipyards Co’s experience, backing and support going forward, the company’s Commercial Director, Rob Stewart, stated.

“We are looking forward to working together having been neighbours for some time. With a healthy order book, the future for AMC, the Isle of Wight and UK boat building looks very positive indeed,” Stewart said.

The latest offshore wind vessel AMC delivered was the MO4 , Mainprize Offshore’s newest wind farm service vessel (WFSV), which has an eight-year contract with Deutsche Windtechnik on the Nordergründe wind farm in the German North Sea.
