German heavy lift specialist SAL Heavy Lift GmbH is closing its SAL Offshore B.V. business unit in Delft, the Netherlands.
The company cited ”the offshore market undergoing challenging times and facing significant reductions in projects worldwide” as the main reason for the closing of the Dutch offshore branch.
However, SAL plans to remain active in the offshore wind industry with its fleet of heavy lift vessels, including the DP vessels, MV Svenja and MV Lone, the company’s spokesperson told Offshore WIND.
”The closure of the SAL Offshore B.V. office in Delft, does not spell the end for SAL in the offshore markets. SAL will continue to offer offshore installation services with our DP2 vessel MV Lone and/or other vessels of our fleet based on scope and opportunity. In future, all offshore activities of SAL will be handled by our Marine Projects team within our office in Hamburg,” the company said.
SAL added that, following the successful deployment of MV Svenja on the Walney Extension offshore wind project in the UK, the company is currently preparing for a new offshore wind-related project.
