German transmission system operator 50Hertz has invited tenders for the provision of a helicopter, including aeronautical and medical crew, for potential emergency and rescue situations involving employees on offshore platforms, wind turbines and vessels located in the Baltic Sea.

In addition to the principal contractor, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, three other companies are currently contract partners: EnBW Offshore Services GmbH, Iberdrola Renovables Offshore Deutschland GmbH and AWE-Arkona-Windpark Entwicklungs-GmbH.

The tender is related to the offshore platforms (Baltic 1, Baltic 2, Wikinger, Arkona Becken Südost) as well as wind turbines of operational wind farms (Baltic 2) and wind farms currently under construction (Wikinger, Arkona Becken Südost).

A rescue helicopter incl. aeronautical and medical crew is required during the construction and operation phase, both to rescue injured persons from the platforms, wind turbines and from the installation ships being used. The rescue helicopter has to be ready for use 24/7, 365 days per year, 50Hertz stated in the tender call.

The contract will be awarded for a period of 5 years, starting from 1 July 2018 and ending on the same date in 2023, with two options to prolong the contract for a year.

Deadline for submission of tenders is 17 October 2017.
