The first Anglo-Dutch Offshore Wind Roundtable Discussion was held on 20 September at the British Ambassador’s Residence in The Hague. The event saw key organisations and major offshore wind players come together to discuss several topics that have a great influence on the installed capacity as well as the project pipeline of future development of offshore wind in both countries.

Senior representatives of Dutch and UK companies working in the sector, trade associations, and research organisations talked about the future solutions of grid connection and interconnectors, further cooperation within the field of research & development, skills and employment, further reducing the LCOE, transparency and sharing of data, etc.

The roundtable discussion has put an even greater emphasis on the important historic, current and future economic links between the UK and the Netherlands in the specific field of offshore wind, and is expected to catalyse further discussion and cooperation between the two North Sea countries.

The event, organised by the British Embassy in The Hague – in cooperation with the Netherlands Embassy in London and with support from RenewableUK and the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA) – was opened by the British Ambassador to the Netherlands Peter Wilson and chaired by Huub Den Rooijen, Director of Energy, Minerals and Infrastructure at The Crown Estate.

The 1st Anglo-Dutch Offshore Wind Roundtable Discussion gathered senior representatives from the following companies and organisations: NWEA, RenewableUK, TenneT, TKI Wind Op Zee, The Crown Estate, National Grid, DONG Energy, ECN, ORE Catapult, RVO, Aura, Van Oord, Scottish Power Renewables, Eneco, Innogy, JDR Cables, Babcock, RoyalHaskoningDHV, TNO, BVG Associates, Heerema FG, MPI Offshore, Smulders, Ecofys and the Department for International Trade.
