Dutch Offshore Contractors and Swan Hunter signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in September, agreeing to jointly provide a complete service package solution to the offshore energy industry by combining their respective specialities.

Swan Hunter, with offices in the UK and the Netherlands, provides a wide range of offshore installation equipment for flexible pipelines, umbilicals, power cables, as well as offshore engineering services for offshore renewables and oil and gas projects, including project management and project engineering.

Dutch Offshore Contractors specialises in heavy transport solutions and project logistic services with a “direct to sea” terminal in Vlissingen.

The companies stated that the agreement will enable this combination to provide their clients with a complete service package from cable factory to storage hub, onwards to installation vessel, and long-term storage, including project mob-demob quay for clients installation vessels.

The MOU was signed by Gerard Kroese, Director at Swan Hunter, and Dave Hangoor, Director at Dutch Offshore Contractors (DOC).

Gerard Kroese said: “DOC have a well-established heavy transport track record, as well as vast experience in logistics project management. This, combined with the “direct to sea terminal” in Vlissingen, will match with our on and offshore cable installation and handling equipment. We can complement and strengthen each other’s capabilities, and this mutually beneficial agreement means we can ultimately actively enter a larger market and provide full service packages to our clients.”

Dave Hangoor said: “Swan Hunter engineering & project management team have extensive experience in offshore renewables and offshore oil & gas industries with a quality equipment pool that includes basket carousels, reel carousels, reel drive systems, reels, tensioners, chutes, under roller drive systems, turntables and other ancillary installation equipment. Combining each other’s capabilities will enable us to provide a “one stop” reliable full package service base to our clients and the renewable market, resulting in a significant cost reduction for the client.”
