The 300MW Huaneng Rudong project – China’s largest offshore wind farm – was officially put into operation on Saturday, 30 September.

Huaneng Rudong was out into full commercial operation after it completed 240 hours of trial operation.

The wind farm, located in the waters off eastern Jiangsu Province, comprises a total of 70 wind turbines, including those of 4MW, 4.2MW and 5MW capacity, according to a press release from China Huaneng Group, the project owner and developer.

The wind farm will generate 820GWh of electricity annually.

The offshore construction started in 2015, with the first monopile foundation installed in June of that year.

At the beginning of 2016, Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology (ZTT) informed that it had been contracted to deliver 35kV and 110 kV subsea cables for the project.
