Osprey Construction and Marine Logistics has posted a photo of their Osprey Carrier II barge entering the Tyne, Newcastle, with the first two jacket top sections for the 92.5MW European offshore wind deployment centre (EOWDC) on 30 September.

Mandora Logistics loaded out the first two jacket top sections at Smulders fabrication yard in Hoboken, Belgium, on 29 September.

Boskalis awarded Smulders Project a contract for manufacturing and assembling the suction bucket jacket foundations for the project.

The top sections are being built at Hoboken, while the lower sections are being manufactured in Newcastle, where the final assembly will take place.

The eleven MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines are scheduled for installation in March 2018.

As Scotland’s largest offshore wind test and demonstration centre, the EOWDC, also called the Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, will trial next generation technology and is expected to contribute to driving down the cost of clean power.

The wind farm is expected to generate first power in summer 2018 and operate for 20 years.
