The first two transition pieces (TPs) were put on top of the two already installed jackets at the Nissum Bredning site. The first one got together with its jacket on Wednesday, 18 October, and the second one was installed on Sunday.

On 20 October, the barge with the components for the first wind turbine was waiting for better weather conditions to sail out of the Port of Esbjerg, Jens Jørgen Birch from Nissum Bredning Vindmøllelaug told Offshore WIND on Friday.

The transition pieces were installed by the Matador 3 floating crane, which arrived from Rotterdam to Thyboron at the beginning of last week.

Check out the video below, posted by Nissum Bredning project team:

The first two jacket foundations are installed at positions 2 and 4, with the team preparing to put in place the two remaining jackets on positions 1 and 3.

Spanish joint venture Navantia-Windar is the manufacturer of the three-legged jacket foundations and accompanying piles for the 28MW project, while Aarsleff won the contract to build the concrete transition pieces and install the new gravity jacket foundation.

Aarsleff delivered the four transition pieces earlier in October.

The Nissum Bredning project site off the Danish coast serves as a testbed for Siemens’ technology and will comprise four Siemens Gamesa 7MW direct drive wind turbines mounted on gravity jacket foundations. Siemens will also install a new 66kV voltage solution including a new transformer, cable and switchgear systems, along with further innovations regarding tower and controller settings.
