James Fisher’s mass/controlled flow excavation (M/CFE) company James Fisher Subsea Excavation (JFSE) has completed its first project in Taiwan by deploying the Twin R2000 tool to de-bury and retrench a cable for maintenance at the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm.
Contracted by Woen Jinn Harbor (WJH), the company in charge of cable installation, JFSE completed the excavation in 50 hours with the Twin R2000, which allows for a non-contact method and is able to operate in very shallow water depths.
Lee Cheng-Yu , director at WJH, said: “This was a complex element of the project. We needed to use an M/CFE provider that had a strong track record in the offshore windfarm market so we could fully trust the cables would be protected during the process. The JFSE team and the Twin R2000 provided a fantastic service.”
Formosa 1 is a 130MW wind farm and will be the country’s first commercial-scale offshore wind project. The first phase comprising two turbines went live earlier this year.
