Aberdeen-based HB Rentals has won a contract to provide stand-alone temporary living quarters and auxiliary support equipment for two separate jack-up barges operating on the Walney offshore wind farm off UK.

The stand-alone packages also included the provision of welfare facilities such as a galley, dining room, locker/changing room and ablutions, along with generators, potable water storage and sewage containment packages.

Norman Porter , Managing Director at HB Rentals Aberdeen, said: “This contract award highlights the current strength of our core accommodation business and demonstrates our capability in offering completely stand-alone accommodation solutions to our clients.”

HB Rentals was also responsible for the design and engineering of deck support grillage for both packages including structural analysis for class approval. The on-site installation, hook-up and commissioning was also performed by HB Rentals technicians, the company said.

In addition, the contract included HB Rentals to carry out customisations on a number of the modules to meet client requirements for each barge.

HB Rentals Sales & Marketing Manager, Craig Marjoribanks , said: “We place great emphasis on client satisfaction and once again HB Rentals has demonstrated our clients’ belief in our ability to successfully deliver a complete stand-alone accommodation package.”

The 367MW Walney offshore wind farm comprises 102 turbines located some 15km from the coastline of Walney Island.

The wind farm, owned by Ørsted (50%), SSE (25%) and PGGM (25%), has been in operation since 2012.
