Oilfield Machinery Ltd (OilMac) has invested in its OM Heavy Lift division with a new crane said to be a vital asset for future offshore wind projects in the Port of Dundee, Scotland.
Located permanently on the new heavy lift pad, the 1500-tonne crane capable of lifting up to 900 tonnes of the centre of a boat or barge will also enhance the Port’s decommissioning capabilities, OilMac said.
The company anticipates that crane operations will start at the beginning of 2018, with the creation of around four direct new positions, including a crane/heavy projects manager, crane driver, appointed personnel and lift supervisor.

Our vision is to position the Port of Dundee as a major decommissioning and renewables centre, and to ensure that customers gain access to an efficient, cost effective solution.”
In October, OilMac announced that it will set up an East Coast Centre for Energy Logistics (ECCEL) to support offshore wind farms in the North East UK.
The centre included the launch of the new heavy lift division OM Heavy Lift into the offshore wind sector, the company said.
