Nissum Bredning to Start Running in January

Power generation at the four-turbine Nissum Bredning offshore wind farm in Denmark is expected to start at the end of January 2018. The project, which has one last turbine to install, received an electricity production licence and grant from the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) on 20 December 2017.

On 27 December 2017, the third 7MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbine was installed, with the fourth and final one scheduled to be erected in the following days. Meanwhile, JD-Contractor continues with cable laying.

JD-Contractor is expected to complete the works at the same time all wind turbines are ready for operation, which is anticipated to be achieved at the end of this month, when the wind farm should produce its first electricity.

The turbine components are being transported out of the Port of Esbjerg and are being installed onto their foundations directly from the Osprey Valliant barge.

The Nissum Bredning offshore wind farm, which serves as a testbed for Siemens’ technology, will get support by receiving a guaranteed feed-in tariff of DKK 0.7/kWh (EUR 0.09/kWh) for the initial 10 years for the first 50,000 full load hours of operation.
