The MaRINET2 project has launched the second call for applications for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy developers who want to test their technology.

Successful applicants will receive free access to a network of 57 testing and research facilities across Europe to test their technology at system or component level.

The deadline for applications is 28 February.

The first call provided EUR 1.3 million funding to 34 technology development teams, and the second call is set to further expand this R&D activity and help secure Europe’s position as the global centre of excellence for offshore renewable energy, MaRINET2 said.

“Europe’s offshore renewable testing facilities are second to none globally, and MaRINET2 puts these facilities at the disposal of technology developers to help test and validate their concepts,” said MaRINET2 Project Coordinator, Dr. Jimmy Murphy , University College Cork.

“The first MaRINET2 call was very effective in providing support to technology developers around Europe, many of whom are in the middle of their testing programmes right now. We will look forward to expanding this with in the second call.”

The EUR 10.5 million project is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, and coordinated by the MaREI (Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland) Centre.
