Vincent DeVito, Counselor to the US Secretary for Energy Policy Ryan Zinke, has arrived in Denmark on a two-day, fact-finding offshore wind tour.
On the first day of his visit, 16 January, DeVito will meet with Denmark’s Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate Lars Chr. Lilleholt to discuss the possibilities for strengthening cooperation on offshore wind development between the two countries.
According to the Danish Ministry of Energy, Supply and Climate, strengthening the cooperation can enable Denmark’s further investments in renewable energy in the US, including more jobs and trade for both parties, and since the US Department of Energy announced major investments in wind power in the future, Danish companies also have potential in the States.
DeVito will further meet with a number of employees from the ministry to learn about Danish regulations and will visit offshore wind hubs in Fyn and Jutland.
On Wednesday, 17 January, DeVito will tour MHI Vestas’ facilities in Lindø, visit the Port of Esbjerg, as well as meet with representatives from Ørsted, the world’s leading offshore wind developer.
Lilleholt and Zinke already discussed formal cooperation between the two countries in a meeting in Washington DC in October, where they agreed that the cooperation would include exchanging experience and knowledge about how the US can expand its energy supply with new offshore wind farms.
