The first out of three GE HaliadeTM 150-6MW offshore wind turbines has been installed as part of the Fujian Xinghua Gulf demo project, GE Renewable Energy reports.
The next two wind turbines will be installed in the days to come and the commissioning works will start shortly, GE Renewable Energy said.
In March 2017 GE Renewable Energy was selected by Fuqing Haixia Electricity Generation Company, a joint venture between China Three Gorges and Fujian Energy, to deliver three HaliadeTM 150-6MW offshore wind turbines to the Fujian Xinghua Gulf demo project.
The contract also includes technical support and a two-year operation and maintenance (O&M) service.
GE Renewable Energy is one of the several wind turbine suppliers to participate in the 73MW wind farm project which will comprise 14 wind turbines in total. The three nacelles and generators were manufactured at GE’s Offshore Wind facility in Saint-Nazaire France, whereas the towers were built locally in Chengxi, and the blades were made in Denmark.
With this milestone, GE is now the only offshore wind supplier to have wind turbines in Europe, Asia and the Americas, the company said.
