Lamprell has dispatched the first batch of partly-assembled jacket foundations for East Anglia ONE to Belfast, and loaded the first eight fully-assembled jackets from its Jebel Ali facility onto a vessel that will ship them to Vlissingen.
The partly-assembled jackets are travelling to Belfast for final assembly by Harland & Wolff, while the vessel carrying the fully-assembled structures will soon set sail for Vlissingen in the Netherlands. Lamprell said that the final load of piles is also in the process of being transported to Vlissingen in accordance with the project schedule.
Last year, the company contracted Dockwise, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster, to transport 36 East Anglia ONE jacket foundations from Jebel Ali to Vlissingen.
ScottishPower Renewables awarded Lamprell with the East Anglia ONE contract, valued at approx. EUR 212 million, in November 2016 . Fabrication work is being carried out in Lamprell’s Jebel Ali and Sharjah yards in the UAE. Upon signing the agreement, the companies stated that the deliveries were scheduled to be made between March and October 2018.
The remaining 42 jacket foundations for the 102-turbine project are being delivered by Spanish joint venture between Navantia and Windar.
The foundations will be installed by Seajacks and Van Oord, with the main installation vessel being Seajacks Scylla.
East Anglia ONE, located 43km off the Suffolk Coast in the UK’s southern North Sea waters, will comprise Siemens 7MW wind turbines, set to be fully-commissioned in 2020.
