Acta Marine has ordered one more walk-to-work (W2W) construction support vessel (CSV) optimized for use in the offshore wind industry from Ulstein.
The SX195 type designed, 93.4 meters long and 18-meter wide vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of next year.
According to Acta Marine, the CSV includes a large, centrally positioned SMST-provided W2W motion 3D compensated gangway capable of 6-ton cargo lifts, as well as an elevator tower for personnel and cargo transfers.
The vessel can accommodate up to 120 persons and is equipped with a fuel-efficient drive system, the company said, adding that a helideck will be fitted.
“Acta Marine is stepping up its activities in offshore wind. These ship designs are flexible and attractive for work within areas such as O&M (Operation and Maintenance) or construction support especially in challenging weather and sea conditions,” said Rob Boer , Managing Director at Acta Marine.
Acta Marine’s first CSV, Acta Auriga, is currently under construction at Ulstein Verft. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2018, after which it will commence O&M works at the Bard Offshore 1 wind farm.
“We are quite convinced that the Acta SX195 vessels will create higher efficiency in offshore logistics operations and thus reduce the overall cost of constructing windfarms and, also, contribute towards a higher uptime of the installed base of offshore wind,” said Boer.
