SeaRoc Group is working on delivering detailed Geographic Information System (GIS) seabed analysis for Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm, after being appointed for the job by E.ON. Provision of data analysis services commenced at the beginning of January 2018 and will last for eight weeks.
E.ON, for whom SeaRoc has provided GIS data management services since 2012 under a larger framework contract, requested a variation to receive more detailed information about the Humber Gateway seabed condition as a whole and at detailed locations through the use of spatial analysis. This information will enable supporting critical decision making, manage risks and minimise potential impacts to the seabed.
Amanda Forbes , Senior GIS Analyst/Developer at SeaRoc Group, said: “We have worked with E.ON since 2012 providing GIS and associated services to their offshore wind farms Robin Rigg and Scroby Sands and are pleased to extend our services to the Humber Gateway project. This analysis package will provide detailed information regarding the seabed’s condition within and around the wind farm area.”
The Humber Gateway offshore wind farm, located approximately eight kilometres off the coast of East Yorkshire, comprises 73 wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of 219MW. The offshore wind farm went into full operation in May 2015.
