The first batch of jacket foundations for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm has arrived at Harland and Wolff’s (H&W) building dock in Belfast, Ireland, where they will be fully assembled.

The taller of the two H&W gantry cranes has already started lifting and transferring packages of components to the building dock floor for assembly.

In late January, Lamprell sent off the first batch of partly-assembled jacket foundations from its premises in Dubai to Belfast, and loaded the first eight fully-assembled jackets onto a vessel that will ship them to Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

ScottishPower Renewables, the owner of the wind farm, awarded Lamprell with a contract to fabricate 60 jacket foundations and accompanying piles for the wind farm in November 2016. Upon signing the agreement, the companies said that the deliveries will be made between March and October this year.

The remaining 42 jackets for the 102-turbine wind farm are being delivered by Spanish joint venture between Navantia and Windar, while Seajacks and Van Oord will install all the foundations, with the main installation vessel Sejacks Scylla.

Located 43km offshore Suffolk in the UK, the 714MW East Anglia ONE will comprise Siemens 7MW turbines set to be fully commissioned in 2020.
