Østensjø Rederi’s Service Operations Vessel (SOV) Edda Passat will depart for Ørsted’s Race Bank offshore wind farm in the UK at the end of this week, after the owner took delivery of the vessel from Astilleros Gondán today, 27 February.

Edda Passat, the first SOV built in Spain, was delivered after completing a two-week sea trials program in the Port of Gijón.

The SOV was named and launched earlier this month together with its sister vessel Edda Mistral, which will operate at Ørsted’s Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm after it is delivered by the end of the summer.

Both vessels have a contract for a fixed period of five years, plus five one-year options, and will operate from Grimsby.

The two SOVs have the capacity to accommodate a crew of up to 20 people and up to 40 technicians who will perform maintenance tasks at the wind farms supported by a 23-meter-long Uptime heave compensated walk-to-work gangway, a 3D compensated crane and a CTV landing system with bunkering facility.

The SOVs are designed by Rolls Royce in close cooperation with Østensjø Rederi.
