Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports (AYOP) presented its bid book ‘The Essential Guide for Installation and O&M Hollandse Kust Wind Farms’ to Vattenfall, which was recently awarded the permit for the Hollandse Kust Zuid I & II offshore wind farm, the Netherlands’ first non-subsidised offshore wind farm.

Within the bid book, AYOP, which gathers around 70 companies and authorities, has demonstrated to Vattenfall the advantages of working with this North Sea Canal network organisation.

Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports chairman Ron Davio said that the North Sea Canal area has unique characteristics to help the fast and efficient construction of Hollandse Kust Zuid, such as sufficient space, good infrastructure and proximity to the project area.

“We offer a network of companies with experience of previous wind farms, a large employment potential in port industrial areas, a choice between two or more suppliers for each link in the chain and short lines of communication with the port authorities. We and the authorities involved guarantee safe and secure locations directly on the water and all the flexibility required for the installation and the operation and maintenance phase for Hollandse Kust Zuid,” Ron Davio said.

In the next few months, Vattenfall will be carrying out the tendering process for Hollandse Kust Zuid I & II components such as turbines, foundations and the production, transport and installation of the wind turbines.

According to the tender rules, the wind farm must be fully operational within five years of receiving an irrevocable permit.

AYOP’s bid book was presented to Erik Hiensch, director of Offshore Operations of Vattenfall, by Frank Dales, mayor of the municipality of Velsen and Ron Davio, chairman Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports. The handover took place during a meeting at the Port of IJmuiden, co-organised by the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA).
