Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) has placed an order with Salt Ship Design for a new wind farm Service Operation Vessel (SOV) that will enter a contract with Ørsted, once delivered.
The new SOV will be built at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey, and is the second vessel of this type being ordered by LDA for operations at Ørsted’s offshore wind farms.
Namely, the new order follows the one LDA placed with Salt Ship in February 2017 . This vessel is currently being built at Cemre Shipyard and is expected to be delivered later this year.
According to an update from Salt Ship, the new SOV is a sister vessel to the one under construction in Turkey. This means that the SOV ordered now will be 83m long with a beam of 19.4m, and will be equipped with Dynamic Motion Compensated Gangway System, accommodation facilities, and unique on-board logistic solutions.
The vessel ordered last year will be used for O&M work on Ørsted’s German offshore wind farms Borkum Riffgrund 1 and 2, as well as Gode Wind 1 and 2. Salt Ship did not specify where Ørsted will use the second SOV.
