The recently converted self-propelled DP2 crane vessel Bokalift 1 has started installing foundation pin piles on the 102-turbine East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea waters, Van Oord, the contractor for the transport and installation works, told Offshore WIND .

This is the Boskalis vessel’s first contract since undergoing conversion and being put back into operation .

Located 43km off the Suffolk Coast, the 714MW East Anglia ONE will comprise 102 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines installed on jacket foundations.

60 of the jacket foundations and the accompanying pin piles are being manufactured by the UAE-based Lamprell, with the remaining 42 jackets and pin piles being delivered by the Spanish joint venture between Navantia and Windar.

The steel structures are being delivered to the marshalling yard at the Port of Vlissingen , the Netherlands.

In January 2017, Van Oord and Seajacks won contracts to install the jacket foundations at East Anglia ONE, with Seajacks Scylla as the main installation vessel.

”Van Oord Offshore Wind confirms to have chartered the Bokalift 1 for installation works on their East Anglia ONE project. Other vessels chartered for the works are the Olympic Taurus and Seajacks Scylla. Van Oord’s own FFPV Nordnes is also being deployed on the project,” Van Oord said.
