MPI Offshore’s wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) MPI Enterprise was upgraded with spudcans during drydocking activities in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

According to MPI Offshore, the spudcans increase the load-bearing area when the vessel is jacked up, which, in turn, minimizes penetration of its legs into the seabed when working offshore.

Following the upgrade, MPI Enterprise will be mobilized at the port of Eemshaven, before commencing a new charter on offshore wind farms in the North and Baltic Sea.

Built in 2011 and acquired in 2015, MPI Enterprise is the newest addition to MPI’s WTIV fleet. The vessel is capable of achieving a jacking speed of one meter per minute in water depths of up to 45 meters, the company said.

MPI Offshore, part of Vroon, operates a fleet of four WTIVs, including MPI Enterprise, MPI Resolution, MPI Adventure and MPI Discovery.
