GeoSea has installed all of the transition pieces at the 396MW Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea using A2SEA’s jack-up vessel Sea Challenger.

In total, Sea Challenger installed 66 transition pieces at the site located some 45km to the north of the island of Borkum.

The Buss Orange Blue Terminal in Eemshaven served as the logistics hub for the project. The terminal hadsigned a contract with GeoSea, the owner of A2SEA, to accommodate the temporary storage, final assembly and transportation of the transition pieces to the wind farm via a jack-up vessel.

The Merkur offshore wind farm will feature 66 GE HaliadeTM 150-6MW wind turbines, the first one of which was installed in early March.

The wind farm is scheduled for commissioning in 2018.

Merkur Offshore GmbH, the developer of the wind farm, is a joint venture between Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis.
