Belgian structural monitoring specialist 24Sea has established an exclusive cooperation agreement with French renewables engineering specialist Innosea for structural monitoring and design of offshore and onshore wind substructures in France.

France has more than 3GW of offshore wind capacity already awarded including a number of floating wind projects.

24Sea and Innosea have identified complementarities between their respective technical expertise and their geographical business area.

In collaboration with 24SEA, Innosea is preparing a commercial roadmap to assess the lifetime extension potential of French wind farms and is targeting French wind farm owners and operators.

Regions to be investigated for lifetime extension include in particular Brittany (Région Bretagne), Grand Est (Région Grand-Est), Hauts-de-France (Région Hauts-de-France).

All French offshore wind farms are targeted, 24Sea said.

“France is an exciting maturing market for offshore wind which is set for significant growth over the next few years. The complex soil conditions adds critical uncertainties to offshore wind turbines behaviour during operations,” Christof Devriendt , co-CEO of 24Sea, said.

”As a leading structural monitoring technology developer for wind projects, we want to enable necessary offshore wind cost reduction through efficient monitoring and design. The success we have worked so hard for and the 10 years of experience in Belgium and abroad has provided our team with knowledge, expertise and lessons learned that can translate directly to French offshore projects.”

The two companies have already started collaborating on offshore wind projects.

“24SEA structural monitoring systems are leading the offshore wind industry right now. We believe that there is great potential for collaboration on wind and renewables projects in France and internationally. In addition, our country has ageing onshore wind assets that require proper care to assess their potential for life extension,” Innosea Marine Engineering CEO, Hakim Mouslim , said.
