The first batch of 30kVA power generators built by Eqin for the Merkur offshore wind farm’s turbines is now in place, the Dutch manufacturer said.
According to Eqin, the next batch is already on its way to the offshore site in the German North Sea onboard the jack-up rig Seafox 5.
The generators can be monitored in detail by a remote connection, the company said.
Located 35km north of the island of Borkum, the Merkur offshore wind farm will comprise 66 GE HaliadeTM 150-6MW wind turbines, the first of which was installed by Seafox 5 in early March.
The wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of the year and fully operational in 2019.
