The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate and Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO.nl) plan to issue a tender for geophysical investigations on the Hollandse Kust (West) wind farm zone in early June.

The objective of this tender is to conclude an agreement with a tenderer who is able to carry out the geophysical investigations required to obtain the soil information at the Hollandse Kust (West).

This soil information will be available for all potential bidders for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands.

The objective of the geophysical soil investigation is to improve the bathymetrical, morphological and geological understanding of the wind farm zone and identification of objects in the designated wind farm zones.

The objective is also geophysical information on these locations, which is suitable for the preparation of geotechnical investigations and the design and installation requirements for offshore wind farms, including, but not limited to foundations and infield cables.

The 1.4GW Hollandse Kust (West) is one of the three wind farm zones identified in the Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030. The roadmap added 7GW of offshore wind capacity to be developed in the Dutch North Sea from 2024 to 2030, on top of the existing plan to develop 3.5GW capacity by 2023.

The tender for the development of the Hollandse Kust (West) zone is planned for 2021.
