Ørsted and its Race Bank project partners, Macquarie and Sumitomo, will hold an inauguration ceremony for the 573MW offshore wind farm in Grimsby, UK, on 13 June.
The offshore wind farm, located off the North Norfolk coast, is operated from Ørsted’s East Coast Hub in Grimsby, the UK’s largest offshore wind Operations and Maintenance (O&M) base, according to Ørsted.
Offshore maintenance is being carried out from the Edda Passat service operations vessel (SOV) that remains offshore with technicians working shifts of 14 days on and 14 days off.
A2SEA’s (now GeoSea’s) vessel Sea Installer erected the last of the total of 91 Siemens Gamesa 6MW wind turbines in December 2017 and Race Bank achieved full power output at the beginning of 2018.
GeoSea’s vessel Innovation installed the foundations manufactured by Bilfinger Mars Offshore in Poland.
Engie Fabricom and Iemants were in charge of supplying two substations to the wind farm, with Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) installing Race Bank 02 (ROW 02), the first substation, in August 2016, and the second, Race Bank 01 (ROW 01), in March last year.
DeepOcean provided the installation of inter-array cables delivered by JDR, while Jan De Nul laid the export cables supplied by NKT.
Race Bank is owned by Ørsted (50%), Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (25%), Macquarie Capital (12.5%) and Sumitomo Corporation (12.5%).
