UK-based Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd (MTE) has won a contract by EEW OSB to fabricate 20 suspended internal support structures (SIPS) for the Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm, which marks the company’s second contract for Ørsted’s project.
The award comes as part of EEW OSB’s contract to produce 86 transition pieces for the 1.2GW wind farm and will see MTE provide more than 20 staff members expected to complete the project later this year.
Prior to having secured the SIPS project, MTE won a contract in February under which is it in charge of the general fabrication of transport cables for Hornsea Project One.

In addition to the 86 transition pieces manufactured by EEW OSB, Bladt Industries will provide 68 and Steelwind Nordenham with Wilton Engineering 20 pieces for the 174-turbine wind farm.
EEW Special Pipes Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC), EEW OSB’s parent company , is responsible for fabricating all monopiles for the project.
Located 120km off the Yorkshire Coast in the UK, Hornsea Project One will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm once fully commisioned in 2020.
