Turbine installation team working on the Merkur offshore wind farm has reached a halfway point on this 396MW project in the German North Sea.

33 out of the 66 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines have now been installed at the site located some 35 kilometres north of the island of Borkum, GE Renewable Energy said.

The turbines are being transported to the site and installed by the jack-up vessel Seafox 5. The first wind turbine was installed in early March and the first electricity was produced earlier this month.

The remaining 33 turbines are expected to be transported from the logistics hub in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, and installed by September 2018, with the full commissioning scheduled for 2019.

The wind farm is owned and developed by Merkur Offshore GmbH, a joint venture between Partners Group, InfraRed Capital Partners, DEME Concessions and Coriolis.
