Gulf Marine Services (GMS) will deploy a third vessel from its Large Class Self Elevating Support Vessel (SESV) fleet on an offshore wind project, after the company signed a charter agreement with an unnamed client for a project in Europe.
The new contract covers a charter period of eight months, including options, with the vessel set to start working in offshore wind immediately after its current long-term contract in the oil and gas sector, due to be completed in some three months.
Duncan Anderson , Chief Executive Officer of GMS, said: “We have a successful track record in the renewables energy sector in Europe. Currently two of our Large Class vessels are supporting wind farm projects in the region and we are delighted to have gained a new client in the sector with this latest contract win .”
“We look forward to deploying a third Large Class SESV onto the new charter, with our ability to transfer from oil and gas operations to wind farm development testament to our vessel flexibility and operational experience in both sectors,” Anderson said.
The company’s two SESVs, GMS Endeavour and GMS Evolution, are deployed on Ørsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea Project One, some 120 kilometres off Yorkshire, where they are providing accommodation for up to 150 technicians constructing the wind farm.
To be fully up for the task, GMS Endeavour has been fitted with an Osbit access tower with integrated boat landing for crew transfer vessels.
