From Campbeltown, the towers will be shipped to Nigg Energy Park, where the turbine supplier Siemens Gamesa has set up a pre-assembly site for the 588MW offshore wind farm, and where the towers that were sent first are already waiting for the installation at the offshore construction site.

First 7MW turbines are expected to be up soon, since earlier reports stated that Beatrice is anticipated to produce first electricity in July and the foundation installation is nearing completion, with 78 out of the total 86 jacket foundations now in place.

The 86 jacket foundations will support the project’s two Siemens Offshore Transmission Modules (OTMs) and 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines.

CS Wind UK is producing up to 200 towers for Siemens Gamesa’s offshore wind turbines between 2017 and 2019, under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the two companies signed in July 2016 .

South Korea’s CS Wind bought the Machrihanish factory, former Wind Towers Scotland (WTS), in April 2016, when SSE – the Beatrice developer – transferred its 80% stake in WTS to the the new owner. CS Wind UK completed the first offshore wind turbine tower at the factory in September of the same year.
