Equinor, an oil & gas giant increasingly focusing on offshore wind, has awarded Sheringham Shoal maintenance contract to Stowen Clean Energy, a Great Yarmouth-based company founded in 2016 as a diversification for Stowen Group’s oil & gas business.
Under the contract for NDT (non-destructive testing) and survey of the turbine monopiles, Stowen Clean Energy will provide inspection and testing services and maintenance works for Sheringham Shoal’s 88 monopiles.
Stowen Clean Energy said this was a significant win for the company and will lead to more full-time jobs in its growing group, which employs 48 people and has a turnover of more than GBP 6 million.
Kieron Ford, technical director, said the Equinor contract win would help to cement Stowen’s position as a major player in the global offshore renewable sector.
“Working alongside Equinor is always an insight to the commitment they have to ensuring their assets exceed their life expectancy,” Ford said.
