Pacific Orca installed the fourth Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbine at the Beatrice offshore wind farm site on 23 July.

Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up vessel erected the first turbine mid-July and the Beatrice wind farm generated first power shortly after that.

The turbine commissioning is taking place immediately after each of the turbines is installed and is being carried out using a combination of the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels (CTV) Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute.

Seaweay Heavy Lifting’s vessel Oleg Strashnov, which completed the jacket foundation installation a few days before the turbine installation started, will continue working at the site for some time to come, as the vessel is now being used for ongoing commissioning works, together with the crew transfer vessels (CTVs) Rix Lion, Rix Panther and Rix Cheetah.

The walk-to-work (W2W) vessel Stril Server, together with the CTV Marieco Mariah, is currently conducting cable commissioning on foundations before they are fitted with their corresponding wind turbine.

Inter-array cabling is also ongoing at the site, with Siem Aimery carrying out the works.

The 588MW project will comprise 84 wind turbines and will be capable of powering some 450,000 households, once operational in 2019.
