DeepOcean has opened a new offshore services base at the Port of Blyth in the UK.
Offshore Services Base Blyth will support the planning, preparation, mobilization and maintenance of DeepOcean’s subsea trenching assets and vessel fleet.
The facility includes 1,000m2 of new office space, covered workshop and rooms for mechanical, electrical and hydraulic operations, as well as storage space and six internal work bays with access to 10t and 15t capacity overhead cranes.
According to the Dutch company, the new space also features two heavy lift quays with deep-water berths to 8.5m, year-round access for large vessels, crane support to 250t, external asset wash down area and asset calibration pit.
Besides creating new jobs in Blyth, the base will house the company’s Asset Management Team, which has relocated from the head office in Darlington. Project teams and engineering personnel will also use the facility on a project-by-project basis.
DeepOcean said that the investment is a result of its continued participation in the UK offshore wind sector and is expected to enhance its relationship with the North East of England supply chain.
